WASH Tapp – tools for effective water security planning

Achieving water security for the people who need it most is no easy task. When water is scarce, the competing needs of family households, agriculture, and nearby businesses can be impossible to balance.

We use an approach called Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) to weigh up all the demands for water by a community against the water that is available to them. Since 2005, we’ve developed a whole range of tools to help us do this including a toolkit and award-winning app.

Our toolkit is designed to guide WASH practitioners through the process of water security planning using IWRM. We also have an app that can be used to gather and analyse all of the data needed about the vulnerable conditions that communities face to help support them in managing their water resources sustainably, for the long-term.
