Stand Up For Safe Water returns to Bristol Harbour

Frank Water’s Stand Up for Safe Water paddleboarding event is returning to Bristol on Friday 30 June.

SUP Bristol will host the competition on the beautiful and historic harbourside from 1-6.30pm, and it’s a brilliant opportunity to spend quality time with colleagues and friends, safely outdoors, and network with other like-minded businesses and potential clients. The event provides businesses of all sizes with the opportunity to promote their services and skills while recognising their purpose-led values.

Stand Up for Safe Water is inclusive to anyone who would like to take part. It is open to teams of four, who compete in a number of races, (dependent on the number of teams that enter) and how far the team gets in the competition, to reach the Grand Final and win the SUFSW trophy!

Teams can end up competing for between two and five races on the day, but no matter how many races you compete in, you’re guaranteed to test your bravery, enjoy a day out on the water, soak in blue health, and have a laugh.

Lizzie Archer, Corporate Partnerships Manager, Frank Water said: “We are really excited to bring back Stand Up for Safe Water for the 4th time on Bristol’s Floating Harbour.  It’s amazing to see so many people come together to support our charity and recognise how crucial our mission is. Unsafe Water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) are still responsible for the deaths of around 400,000 children under the age of five each year.

“It’s unbelievable that this is still happening. We can often feel far removed from this in the UK as we have easy access to safe drinking water and safe water to swim and do recreational activities in, however, this is even more reason why we should do everything we can to help those in the most marginalised, remote communities. Supporting our fundraising events, such as Stand Up for Safe Water is imperative to the success of our programmes in the field.”

Tim Trew, Co-founder, Event Collaborator, of SUP Bristol said: “Growing up on the river we feel so fortunate to be able to enjoy it for sport, while 1 in 10 still has no clean drinking water. We’re looking forward to helping Frank Water raise even more for their amazing mission, whilst showcasing the best of Bristol to their supporters.”

Frank Water is asking teams to register for £180 per team. (Individuals can pay for this themselves, however, some teams are registered by the companies they work for as a team-building experience).  In return, each team that enters will receive a free team training session with SUP Bristol in advance of the event. Teams must sign up for this session once they have registered and paid to compete.  Each team will also raise £199 in sponsorship and this will go towards funding our water security work, including ensuring sustainable sources of water and enabling safe water, better sanitation, and good hygiene for those most in need.

Stand up For Safe Water is kindly sponsored by Aquaplanet, the UK’s no.1 top-selling paddleboard company. Dan Chapman, Marketing Director at Aquaplanet said: “Aquaplanet is thrilled to once again support this year’s Stand-up For Safe Water paddle boarding event. We can’t wait for the SUP race to begin and to be involved in raising awareness of Frank Water’s mission of providing safe water around the world. It’s a real honour to be involved and to make a positive impact on our global community.”
