Frank Water’s Stand Up for Safe Water (SUFSW) paddleboarding challenge is returning to Bristol on Thursday 4 July, but with a twist!
Now in it’s 5th year and hosted by the incredible team at SUP Bristol, our flagship fundraiser takes place on Bristol’s historic harbourside (in front of The Cottage Inn) from 1-6.30 pm.
SUFSW is a brilliant opportunity to spend quality time outdoors with friends or colleagues, meeting other like-minded individuals, businesses or even potential clients. No equipment or experience is needed (and fancy dress is actively encouraged!).
Each team consists of four members, and you’ll receive free training ahead of the event, ready to paddle your way to victory. This year, we’re shaking things up a bit and introducing some new challenges.
We’ve got a new format for 2024 and it will include the following:
- 4-a-side SUP Ball – two teams, two goals, one inflatable ball – the team with the most goals wins!
- Water bucket challenge – multiple teams will relay across the Harbour, racing to be the first to fill up their bucket with water. This one will require some logic, teamwork, and balance.
- Sprint relay race – finishing the day is a classic race, with all members of your team racing for those final points and the coveted SUFSW trophy.
Fees
Registration is £200 per team, which can be paid for by your employer or as individuals. After you’ve registered, an invoice will be sent via email.
We ask every team to fundraise a further £200 or more in sponsorship. After you register, we’ll be in touch to help you set up your Just Giving page and start raising money for Frank Water!
Training
For health and safety, we ask every team to take part in a free, short training session, delivered by SUP Bristol. We’ll provide session booking details once all teams have registered.
Prizes
If you need even more convincing to enter a team, here are some of the prizes which the top three teams will win and the best fancy dressed team:
- £100 gift voucher from Turtle Bay
- Planet Earth III live tickets (London or Manchester) for 4 people
- £75 voucher for Boston Tea Party
- Tea Mixology Workshop at Bird and Blend for 4 people
Also our friends at Pieminister will be handing out their range of delicious new Handy Pies, including vegan and veggie options!

Volunteering
Not keen on entering a team? We are looking for volunteers to help us at the event with registering participants as they arrive, stewarding and helping people get onto their paddleboard -this is a physical position.
