Safe water, handwashing & good hygiene are the first line of defence against Covid-19.
In 2020, you donated more than £12,000 to help provide support against Covid-19 for people in India and Nepal. With your support, we provided families with masks, soap and sanitiser, delivered training and broadcast public health information to many thousands of people. You helped equip quarantine centres and vaccination hubs with toilets and a safe water supply.
However, there are 163 million people in India who still have no access to safe water – more than any other country in the world. Like the UK, the poorest and most vulnerable people are most at risk, especially those who have no access to safe water in or even near to their homes.
Since 2005, we’ve provided more than 425,000 people in 617 communities with access to safe water, toilets and good hygiene.
With your support, we’ll continue to work with our partners in India and Nepal to reach some of the most marginalised communities in the world with clean, reliable water, decent sanitation and good hygiene facilities that will keep them safe and prevent the spread of disease.
