Looking for a challenge – to test yourself, to get in shape, or bond with friends on a weekend adventure? If so, an Ultra Challenge
is for you – and you don’t need to be a budding elite athlete – they’re for everyone, take it on at your pace! Whether along stunning coastlines, or trails through wonderful countryside, your Ultra Challenge will be unforgettable – with full support all the way, camaraderie, an amazing sense of achievement, and all in support of Frank Water.

Walk, Jog, or Run the best of Britain with full support all the way – and Push Yourself Further! With ‘continuous’ Full 100 km challenges, or a 2 day ‘Daylight’ 100 km option with halfway camping; testing 50 km & satisfying 25 km options, a few engaging trail Marathons, and a set of 10K taster events. There’s an Ultra March® category for determined walkers, and NEW Trailblazerz® for ambitious runners.

For all experience levels & ages; for Individuals & teams; for charity or just for yourself – there’s an Ultra Challenge® for everyone!

London Winter Walk

Sat 24 and Sun 25 Jan – A great event to walk off the Christmas and New Year celebrations, and maybe kick start a new fitness regime! There are Full Marathon, Half Marathon & 10K walking options, and a new accessible family fun 5K option on Sunday. All walks start and finish at The Oval Cricket Ground, and take in highlights of the Thames, its historic bridges, and many of the Capital’s landmarks. Sign up as a team, or an individual and families are welcome; there’s rest stops with snacks, a special medal, and hot food at the finish!

Bath 50 Ultra Challenge

Sat 28 Mar – A great opener to the Ultra Challenge season! Centred on this elegant historic city,  take on a 50 km Ultra, testing 25 km, or a sharp 10 km challenge at your pace. From our Bath Racecourse basecamp, 2000 adventurers will head out on looped routes around and through Bath – with fantastic panoramic views, past the famous Royal Crescent, and taking in many of the city’s sights and sounds and the surrounding countryside. You’ll get full support, and a celebration finish back at basecamp.

Windsor 50 Challenge

Sat 18 Apr – The 2nd Ultra Challenge of the season – and a good one to take on after the Easter break! From the Windsor Racecourse basecamp, you can Walk, Jog or Run a looped route 50 km, 25 km, or 10 km through historic Windsor, along the Thames Path, and enjoy some wonderful surrounding countryside. You’ll get a neck buff & medal, hot food & drink at the finish – and it’s a great event to test those legs, and to get in shape!

Isle of Wight Challenge

2-3 May – The Island is easy to get to – with good transport links, and its’ coastal path is the setting for an unforgettable challenge which 2,000 or so adventurers will take on over the bank holiday weekend. From our Chale basecamp in the south, it’s clockwise to Cowes, and on through with the historic resorts in the south for the 106 km ‘full Island’ challenge. With 3/4. 1/2, & 1/4 half Island options also, a fantastic ‘Southern 50’ & ‘Medina 10 mile’ events, plus camping packages – there’s a fantastic active weekend challenge for all!

Jurassic Coast Challenge

16-17 May – Spectacular World Heritage coastline, and an amazing challenge with distance options for all! This is one of the best Ultra Challenges – a tough one – but the most popular, as there’re distance options to suit all! From the Corfe Castle start, the main route heads down to Swanage, and along to Weymouth at half way for the 100 km full challenge, with lots of ups & downs – and then on to a welcome finish line celebration in the vibrant Dorset town of Bridport. With a full range of distance options – there’s challenge for all on the Jurassic Coast!

London 2 Brighton Challenge

23-24 May – A favourite route for vintage cars & cycles – and the original Ultra Challenge – now in its 11 year, with a varied 60% off-road route. A Richmond and on towards the North Downs and on through wonderful Surrey & Sussex countryside to Turners Hill at halfway (with optional camping). The Full 100 km challenge heads up & over the South Downs before the welcome sight of the Brighton coastline and the racecourse finish line. There’ re distance options to suit all!

Lake District Challenge

6-7 June – Take on & enjoy some of England’s finest countryside at your pace. From our convenient Kendal basecamp (with optional camping) the full 100 km route is an anticlockwise loop taking in a few tough hills & fells, Ambleside, Lake Windermere at half way (with hostel accommodation option) nature reserves, and forests  – with stunning views en-route – and distance options to suit all adventurers!

Cotswold Way Challenge

13-14 June – A spectacular 100 km looped route from our new basecamp in Cirencester – the ‘capital’ of the Cotswolds – which takes in some fabulous scenery. Stunning views, idyllic villages, and rolling hills – it’s easy to access, plenty of parking, and there’s onsite pre-event University style accommodation at basecamp. A testing challenge, with some tough climbs in the first half –  and rewards with a real sense of achievement.

Peak District Challenge

4-5 July – We’ll welcome 2,000 adventurers into the fabulous Peak District National Park, and our major ‘Basecamp’ hub set-up in idyllic Bakewell, with a range of camping options, hospitality & local accommodation. The full 100 km Challenge takes in a varied figure of 8 route through Derbyshire’s finest scenery with wonderful views, and with 50 km, 25 km & 10 mile distance options passing Chatsworth House – there’s a Peaks Challenge for all!

Gower Penisula Ultra Challenge

18-19 July – A new Ultra Challenge set in the stunning Gower Peninsula – the UK’s first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and famous for its golden beaches, limestone cliffs, wild moors, ridges, and woodlands. Our basecamp is in the grounds of the historic Penrice Castle , with weekend camping options – and the 100km challenge is a figure of 8 route made up of a west & an east loop which take in the best of the Peninsula, its history, and its varied and unique landscape. With 50km, marathon, 25km, and 10K challenge option as well – this event will be the highlight the season!

North Downs 50 Challenge

Sat 1 Aug – A start & finish basecamp venue in Guildford – and a fantastic summer event! The looped route takes in some of the North Downs Way, The Surrey Hills, and the magnificent views over the countryside to the south. Join us for this fantastic mid-summer challenge – with good access from London and the surrounding area, plus looped routes for easy logistics, and optional adjacent University style accommodation.

South West 50 Challenge

Sat 25 July – A real gem and one of the best Ultra Challenge routes! From basecamp in the shadow of Dunster Castle, the route takes in the fabulous 1st section of the 630 mile SW Coastal Path – from Minehead to Porlock, with fantastic views out towards Wales. Then it’s up & over scenic Exmoor via Dunkery Beacon as we head back to basecamp after an unforgettable 50 km & testing 1600 metres of climb. With camping options, BBQ, bar, entertainment & beaches nearby, it’s a summer highlight not to miss

London Summer Walk

Sat 22 Aug – Explore the ‘gateway to London’ along the River Thames eastern section. Starting by Woolwich Royal Artillery Barracks, our Marathon loop route heads to Docklands and to the Olympic Park, through the City, along the Thames along the Thames to Greenwich where it joins the 25km route. Past the Cutty Sark, a rest stop at the Naval College, around the Greenwich Peninsula – past the O2, Old Royal Naval College, past Thames Barrier Park – and back to the Woolwich basecamp. A route steeped in history and capped with a BBQ & bar at the finish – and a great summer holiday weekend adventure!

South Coast Ultra Challenge

5-6 Sep – The South Downs National Park is a superb backdrop for 2000 adventurers to take on a real challenge. An Eastbourne start, up Beachy Head, the magnificent Seven Sisters, and along the South Downs Way, with stunning views over the sea, to a Brighton half-way. Devil’s Dyke, and a few ups & downs lie ahead before historic Arundel comes into view after an amazing 100 km journey. You’ll get full support & hospitality all the way – and with half & quarter distance options available – there’s a South Coast Ultra Challenge for everyone!

Thames Path Ultra Challenge

12-13 Sep – Take on England’s greatest river with a ‘flat’ 100 km route heading out from Putney Bridge, past Hampton Court to Runnymede, of Magna Carta fame, at the 50 km half way. For the full challenge – it’s on to Windsor and then past wonderful historic scenery & countryside to Henley. With half, quarter distance options also, and the Henley 10K – there’s a Thames Path Challenge for everyone, and the most popular event of the season!

Thames Bridge Trek

Sat 12 Sep – Venture across the Capital with unrivalled views of the skyline. Setting out from Putney Bridge – it’s East towards the City, zig-zagging over 16 of London’s historic bridges – each with its own fascinating story, and with a mid-point refreshment stop at The Oval for some snacks & drinks. 25km later it’s a finish line celebration & some food in Southwark Park, beyond the majestic Tower Bridge, where a big cheers, some fizz, a medal, food, & a celebration await!

Thames Moonlight 10

Fri 11 Sep – Kicks off the Thames Path Challenge festival of events on Friday evening. Take on a spirited 10km or an energetic 10 mile looped route through the heart of London as darkness falls, passing famous landmarks – including St Paul’s, Westminster Abbey, Tower Bridge, the London Eye and more. A lively finish awaits – with some fizz, a ‘Moon medal’, some welcome hot food & drink. Perfect to join with friends after work for an active evening on the town!

Chiltern 50 Challenge

Sat 26 Sep – Our end of season challenge takes in some of the best of the wonderful Chilterns countryside, with historic trails, nature reserves, forests, and a few hills with fantastic views. Starting & finishing at our basecamp near Henley on Thames, there’s a Saturday night celebration BBQ, bar & entertainment, with extensive on-site weekend camping & parking options. 

Kent Downs 50 Ultra Challenge

Sat 10 Oct – An end of season Ultra Challenge®– in the ‘Garden of England’.  A basecamp near Maidstone, with parking & weekend camping options, the main 50km looped route heads anticlockwise around the Kent Downs – starting on the North Downs Way to Blue Bell Hill, around picturesque Aylesford, and following the River Medway to Mote Park at halfway for a picnic. Along the Len Valley Walk to the majestic Leeds Castle, then the North Downs Way back to the showground finish line and celebration. It’s easily accessible; you’ll get full support; and with 25km & 10km options also available,  there’s a Kent Downs Ultra Challenge® waiting for you!

Halloween Walk

Sat 31 Oct – A hair-raising hike around some of the City’s scary streets and historic haunts! Gather your bravest guys & ghouls to make up a team – or go it alone if you dare and meet other chilling challengers. Dress to distress, and our creepy dungeon keepers at The Oval Cricket Ground basecamp start & finish will meet, greet & shock! Once you escape there’s ghostly looped routes, with zombie rest stops, and if you manage to get back in one piece there’s a macabre medal, a glass of the Devil’s fizz, some horrific hot food & drink.
