The Frank Water Institute

The Frank Water Institute

Water is fundamental to human health, environmental sustainability and economic development. Addressing these challenges requires more than infrastructure alone. Sustainable water security depends on strong local capacity, informed decision-making, and responsible water stewardship across sectors.

About the Institute

To help meet this need, Frank Water has created the Frank Water Institute — a platform dedicated to strengthening knowledge, capacity and environmental action for sustainable water management. The Institute will translate Frank Water’s two decades of practical experience into training, advisory services and knowledge sharing that support communities, governments, NGOs and businesses to manage water resources responsibly and build climate resilience. The Frank Water Institute will act as a centre for training, knowledge exchange and environmental advisory services focused on sustainable water management and water stewardship.

The First Course – Certificate in Applied Water Resource Management

On the 28th of April 2026 the institute began the online sessions of the Certificate in Applied Water Resource Management. The course is grounded in the application and challenges in implementing water sector projects, drawing on real basin case studies, the WASH Basins Toolkit by Arup, and ACWADAM’s field-tested aquifer science. It is delivered free of charge as part of Frank Water Institute’s commitment to removing cost barriers for water professionals worldwide.

It is not a theory course. It is built around the realities of watersheds, aquifers, hydrological trends, governance structures, and the planning frameworks that can actually shift outcomes on the ground. Every lesson draws on real cases, real data, and real decisions that water professionals face.

Below is a list of modules covered in the live sessions of the course:

Water security is one of the defining development and environmental challenges of our time. Meeting this challenge requires stronger leadership, improved knowledge and collective action across sectors.

The Frank Water Institute will provide a platform to build this capacity — combining training, advisory services and collaborative partnerships to advance sustainable water management.

By equipping practitioners, organisations and communities with the tools they need to manage water responsibly, the Institute will help create a future in which people, ecosystems and economies can thrive through resilient water system
