This summer, Blue Sky Botanics — a botanical extracts grower and supplier based in the heart of Herefordshire — is celebrating 20 years of innovation, success, and purpose-driven partnerships.
Since 2005, the company has remained true to its founding mission: to harness the power of plants and deliver natural ingredients that are effective, high quality, and ethically sourced.
Founded by the late James Lambe alongside his wife Emma, current Managing Director Caroline Brevitt, and Site Manager James Preece, Blue Sky Botanics was created in response to growing demand for authentic botanical extracts. Before launching the company, James and Emma were growing and processing fresh herbs for the food industry on their award-winning organic farm in Herefordshire — the very site where Blue Sky Botanics continues to thrive today.
James Lambe had a remarkable vision. He anticipated a future where consumers would demand complete transparency from field to factory, and where ethical practices would become essential throughout the supply chain for both food and cosmetic ingredients. Bringing together James’s drive for fair economic development with Caroline’s Scientific & Technical expertise, the team saw an opportunity to blend traditional plant knowledge with modern green technology — delivering high-quality natural extracts for the food, beverage, and cosmetics sectors. What began as a small, passionate team has since grown into a trusted global partner.
From Roses and Echinacea grown on site in Herefordshire to Teas, Ginger, and Baobab sourced from across the globe, every product is selected and produced with care, transparency, and integrity. We work closely with our growers and suppliers, striving for the highest ethical standards, minimising environmental impact, and delivering consistently high-quality products and service
A key part of our social impact journey has been our long-standing partnership with Frank Water — a charity dedicated to providing clean, safe drinking water to communities in need. Over the years, the Blue Sky Botanics team has supported numerous Frank Water campaigns, helping to fund critical water and sanitation projects across India and Nepal. From rowing over 250,000 meters in 2023 to countless bake sales and office challenges, the team is always ready to roll up their sleeves and support the cause.
This year, we’re taking on the Tour de Farm! Colleagues from across the business will collectively cycle the same distance as the Tour de France — on an exercise bike — over two months, to raise funds for Frank Water’s Spring Appeal: Protect Water.
