You did it! Yet again you helped us to hit our Big Give target of £40,000 – Thank You!
Your support will help us to support women Meet Leela. She lives in times of change. Her home is in the village of Salna, surrounded by steep-sided Himalayan hills, overlooked by the vast, sacred Nanda Devi mountain. But here, and throughout the state of Uttarakhand, a third of natural springs are drying up.
For families living in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand, they are facing direct impact of the climate crisis including changes in land use such as deforestation and expansion in distant urban areas.
The funding will help us to keep families safe from disease and ensure that the hardest to reach communities have a sustainable, supply of safe, clean water. In addition to significantly boosting biodiversity and protecting the vital water sources that are under threat due to the impact of the climate crisis.
These funds could revive 10 springs in India’s Uttarakhand and provide up to 500 households (2,500 people) with the good health, opportunities and life chances they deserve.
