Protect Water Himalayas

Protect Water Himalayas

Time is running out to protect water in the Himalayas. Help us raise £60,000 to tackle the water and climate crisis – double your donation between midday on 14 and midday on 23 May.

Right now, in the Himalayan state of Himachal Pradesh, the race is on.

Frank Water’s newest project in the Sirmaur district is working to protect 8 natural springs, lifelines for thousands of people. But the monsoon rains are coming fast, and if we don’t act now, we risk losing precious progress and putting safe water further out of reach.

The start of May 2025 was the hottest on record, and the year ahead is predicted to be even hotter. With rising temperatures, shrinking glaciers, and disappearing springs, the communities that rely on the Himalayas’ natural water sources are feeling the impacts. The situation is urgent, but together, we can act.

Why the Himalayas matter

The Himalayas are often called the world’s “Third Pole” – home to the largest fresh water reserve outside the Arctic and Antarctic. These mountains feed Asia’s greatest rivers, supplying water to over a billion people.

But this vital ecosystem is in crisis. As springs dry up and natural water systems break down, millions of people are left vulnerable, without clean water, food security or the means to adapt to the accelerating climate emergency.

Frank Water is part of the solution

We’re tackling the water and climate crisis head-on, working directly with communities in the Himalayan region who are on the frontline of change to protect, manage, and restore their local water sources through nature-based solutions.

With your support, we can ensure it flows where it’s needed most – for people, nature and the planet.
