A guest blog from a Bristol Triathlete...

If there’s one thing that makes you appreciate clean water, it’s swimming in Bristol docks. That was where I found myself at the start of the Bristol Triathlon, which I’d entered both as a personal challenge and to raise money for FRANK.

I splashed my way around the murky 750-metre course, before clambering out of my wetsuit and onto the bike for a speedy 20km on closed roads under the iconic Clifton suspension bridge.

After a quick change into trainers, it was a slosh along the muddy 5km trail along the opposite side of the river Avon from the bike route. Finally, the line was in sight and I’d completed my first ever tri!

I caught up with the team from FRANK at their tent afterwards, for a chat about the race and what happens to the money raised by the five of us who took part.

The atmosphere on the day was fantastic and the Philippa at FRANK had made the application and sponsorship process really easy, so hopefully we’ve said thanks by raising a decent sum.

Just need to plan the next triathlon now…
