Inaugeral Thirsty Expedition Report:  2007 Outer Hebrides Sea Kayak Expedition

In September 2007, Paul, Ben, Phil & Tom paddled 60 miles offshore in the Southern Outer Hebrides from South Uist to Mingulay and around Barra Head (and back, but only just).

FRANK Water bottles were reused and refilled with VERY peaty local water. Sea birds, seals, deserted villages, drift wood fires and whisky made it an expedition to remember. Some pretty hairy wind against tide passages between the islands made it challenging. The Force 8 on the journey home was of interest since not all boats in the area survive these winds...

Conclusions: The FRANK Expedition found a shameful amount of plastic waste in some of the most remote, wilderness parts of the UK. This has informed our new Refill and Re-Use plan to be launched in 2008.
